This information is provided by the parent/guardian and is not collected directly from children.

  • Story preferences

Technical Data

  • Device type and operating system
  • Device identifier (for subscription purposes only)

2. How We Use Information

We use the collected information for the following purposes:

  • Story personalization: Creating stories tailored to the child's age, interests, and reading level
  • Service improvement: Understanding usage patterns to develop content and features
  • Parent dashboard: Displaying reading progress reports
  • Account management: Authentication and service-related communications
  • Subscription management: Processing payments and verifying entitlements

3. AI-Generated Content

We use third-party AI models to generate:

  • Story text
  • Illustrations
  • Audio recordings

Limited information (such as the story idea, age, and reading level) is sent to AI services to generate content. The child's name and the parent's email address are not shared with AI providers.

4. Third-Party Services

We use the following services to operate Fanous:

  • Supabase: Database hosting, authentication, and file storage
  • OpenAI: AI-based text, illustration, and audio generation
  • RevenueCat: Subscription management and in-app purchase processing
  • Apple App Store: App distribution and payment processing

Each of these services has its own privacy policy. We encourage you to review them.

5. Children's Privacy

We are committed to protecting children's privacy in accordance with practices consistent with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA):

  • We do not collect personal information directly from children
  • All information relating to children is provided by the parent/guardian
  • We do not display advertisements to children
  • We do not sell or share children's data with third parties for marketing purposes
  • Parents/guardians may delete a child's profile and review their data at any time

6. Data Storage and Security

  • Data is stored on secure servers with encryption in transit and at rest
  • We use strict security policies (Row Level Security) to ensure each user can only access their own data
  • Passwords are encrypted and cannot be accessed by anyone, including the Fanous team

7. Data Retention

We retain your data for as long as your account is active. When you delete your account:

  • All account data and child profiles are deleted
  • Personalized stories, illustrations, and associated audio recordings are deleted
  • Reading history and interaction logs are deleted

You may request account deletion through the app settings at any time.

8. Local Storage

The app uses local storage on your device to:

  • Save stories for offline reading
  • Temporarily store display preferences
  • Speed up content loading

You may clear this local data through your device settings.

9. Your Rights

You have the right to:

  • Access your personal data and your children's data
  • Correct any inaccurate information
  • Delete your account and all associated data
  • Object to data processing
  • Request a copy of your data

The website uses only essential cookies to ensure proper operation. We do not use cookies for tracking or advertising purposes.
